Two-Way Audio Setup and How-To

2-Way Audio is a feature which allows users to associate speakers with cameras. It has applications in remote incident deterrence, concierge services, and virtual guarding services. Using a computer or smartphone, users can start a call with the speaker when viewing live video ‘Talk Down’, or transmit their audio, to the target speaker.

Please confirm your speaker is supported by checking here.
If your speaker is not supported, learn how to request device support.
Intercom devices, those which include both a camera and speaker, are currently not supported.

Adding a Speaker

  1. Connect the speaker device to the respective bridge/switch.
  1. Once the speaker device is detected by the bridge it will be displayed in the VMS Dashboard under the Available Cameras section.

  1. Click on the '+' (add speaker to account) button.
  2. Enter the Speaker Name and click Add Speaker Button.

Once added, the speaker will appear under the bridge it is attached to on the Bridges/Cameras section on the VMS Dashboard.

Please allow a few moments for the speaker to appear as online.

Settings and Configuration

  1. Select the gear icon to access the speaker settings

SIP Username/Password and Speaker Login details are not required for Talk Down, only Two-Way audio.
If you have questions regarding configuration of SIP settings or features of your speaker, please contact the device manufacturer.

  2. Select Account Settings from the drop-down menu
  3. Select the Sharing tab in Account Settings

Speaker Status

  1. As per the current implementation only Speaker connected and disconnected status is supported.

  3. Speaker disconnected (Red): not able to make a valid SIP connection with Speaker
There is some delay in updating the speaker connected status. In the case a speaker is appearing as offline it still may be available for use. Speaker status is updated when a camera is associated to a speaker and every 6 mins after initial connection.
