This Application Note is intended for Eagle Eye Cloud VMS administrators and users who wish to implement and utilize tags for better video management. It provides step-by-step instructions on how to create, apply, and manage tags within the VMS.
Tags in the Eagle Eye Cloud Video Management System (VMS) provide a powerful way to organize and manage cameras in the VMS. By using tags, users can easily categorize and access cameras based on specific criteria, enhancing the usability and organization of your VMS. Tags are user-defined, searchable labels that can be assigned to any camera within the VMS. Tags can be associated with individual cameras, or groups of cameras. There is no limit to the number of tags each camera can have. Tags should be associated with cameras with the use case in mind.
Keeping in mind that tags are to be used in an investigation and/or accessing cameras quickly within the VMS; thus, the specific tag names should be relevant to the application and environment. Be sure to use clear and descriptive names for tags. Train users about the importance and usage of tags for consistent adoption across the organization. Tag names are generally based on the location of the camera, the object the camera is monitoring, the area the camera is covering, and/or the camera’s specific function. Using these identifiers, a quick search for these cameras can be conducted within the VMS. When creating tags, be sure the tag name is the same across all cameras for easy searching. For example, if “1st Floor” is a tag across all cameras on the first floor of a building, ensure all cameras have this exact text. A camera with the tag “First Floor” will not populate if “1st Floor” is searched for.
