Version 1.0
A Site is a fundamental grouping method used to organize and manage cameras and hardware based on their physical or logical location. Sites are essential for users with large-scale or multi-location deployments, providing a streamlined way to filter, monitor, and report on specific areas of an infrastructure
Use Cases
Sites are primarily used to simplify the management of complex environments:
- Logical Organization: Group devices by physical address or building name.
- Enhanced Navigation: Use the Map feature to view cameras overlaid on Google Maps based on their site coordinates.
- Granular Filtering: Quickly isolate devices by site, floor, or site type (e.g., "Office" or "Warehouse") in search results and dashboards.
- Access Management: Control user permissions by granting access to specific sites rather than individual cameras.
- Inheritance: Simplify setup by assigning a site to a Bridge or CMVR; all connected cameras automatically inherit that site information.
Adding or Editing a Site
Site configuration is managed through the Bridge settings.
- Navigate to the Dashboard.
- Click the gear icon next to the Bridge name to open Bridge Settings.
- Select the Site tab.
- To use an existing site: Select the name from the Site Name drop-down.
- To create a new site: Click the yellow plus sign and enter the required details.

Assigning User Permissions by Site
Administrators can manage user access efficiently by granting or restricting permissions at the site level. This is particularly useful for Professional and Enterprise editions.
- Access User Management: Navigate to the Users window and click the gear icon next to a specific user to enter User Settings.
- Manage Access: Use the Cameras tab to drag and drop cameras associated with specific sites into the Access or No Access columns.
- Site Filtering: In the Audit Log, use the Target Filter for "Locations" or "Sites" to view events related to specific geographic groups.
- Audit Notifications: Configure Audit Notifications and use the Advanced Site Filter to notify administrators only when changes occur at specific sites.
Feature Integration
- VSP (Vehicle Surveillance Package): Filter license plate search results and alerts by specific sites.
- Reporting: Generate Bridge Status or Camera Status reports filtered by site for better inventory management.
- Floor Plans: Sites with valid addresses are required to utilize visual floor plan layouts.
Limitations
- Mandatory Requirement: A site and its address must be assigned to every Bridge or CMVR.
- Inheritance Constraint: Cameras cannot be assigned to a different site than the Bridge they are physically connected to.
- Edition Specificity: Advanced site management and grouping are restricted to the Professional and Enterprise editions of the VMS.
- Cameras Not Appearing on Map: Ensure the site has a valid street address or specific Latitude/Longitude coordinates entered in the Bridge Settings.
- Incorrect Site Information: If a camera shows the wrong location, update the site details at the Bridge level; cameras will inherit the corrected data.
- Filter Not Returning Results: Verify that the Site Type or Floor fields are correctly populated in the Site tab for that bridge.
- Missing Fields in Reports: Ensure the account is on a Professional or Enterprise edition, as site-based reporting may be limited in the Standard edition
