Classic Vs Enhanced Interface |
Currently, Eagle Eye offers two different versions of our VMS (Video Management System): the Classic and Enhanced Web Interfaces. The Classic Interface is our legacy UI, while the Enhanced Interface is our newer interface with a more modern look, improved user experience, and additional features available only within the Enhanced Interface.

First, click Dashboards on the left menu. To add a device to your account, simply click the + Add device button on the top right and select the type of device you wish to add.
Adding a Bridge
Adding a Camera
If you do not see your camera listed in this section, check the following |
1. The camera is properly configured with a valid ONVIF profile. 2. The camera is on the same subnet/VLAN as the bridge interface to which it is connected. 3. The camera is powered on and receiving power. 4. You have the correct permissions to add devices. 5. Refresh the page. |
Bridge and Camera Swaps |
Swapping a bridge or camera lets you physically replace faulty hardware with a new working device without deleting and re-adding it to the system. For cameras, this means you can keep all previously recorded footage from the old device. For bridges, it prevents the need to delete and reconfigure every device connected to the old bridge.
Before proceeding, make sure you have physically replaced the old faulty device with the new working one. Please make sure all cables return to their original positions.

Layouts In Enhanced Interface |
Layouts in the VMS are customizable groups of cameras organized into a single view for easier monitoring and management. Users can create multiple layouts based on roles, locations, or specific operational needs, and access them from both the web interface and the mobile app. Common uses include grouping cameras by department, floor, incident type, or security priority. Layouts improve efficiency by giving users quick access to the most relevant camera feeds for their responsibilities.
You will be provided with a default All Cameras layout. You will see a list of custom layouts you have created below the default layout under Layouts.
Take note of the actions for each camera within a layout.

Smart Layouts
Smart Layouts use AI to automatically reposition cameras at the front of your layout that detect motion, people, or vehicles. Instead of manually scanning every camera, users can quickly focus on the most relevant activity. Each alert includes a preview you can click to jump directly to the recorded event. Smart Layouts are available only for Professional and Enterprise editions of the Eagle Eye Cloud VMS.
Viewing and Downloading Historical Footage |
Historical video refers to video recorded by cameras and stored either in the cloud or locally on a CMVR’s hard drive. Each camera will have its own historical video footage available for access, download, or archiving. This article will explain how to navigate the History Browser.
⚠️The amount of recorded video depends on the retention settings for that camera.
⚠️ Historical video that is out of retention is unrecoverable. |
Navigating Historical Video
History Browser Timeline: Click and drag left or right to scroll through recorded footage. The vertical line indicates your current position. You will see the date and time listed up top. Clicking these lets you enter a specific date or time you wish to jump to.
A: Zoom in or out of the timeline to specify the speed of your scrolling.
B: Playback Speed.
C: Jump forward or back 10 seconds in the timeline.
D: Specifies if the History Browser plays full video or preview footage.
E: Jump forward or back one frame at a time.
F: Playback button.
G: Jump forward or back 1 motion event at a time.
H: Filter event overlays in the timeline scrollbar.
I: Take a snapshot of the current image on screen.
J: Save and download footage.
K: Copies the current location of the timeline to your clipboard. You can paste this in your web browser to jump right back where you left off.
L: Jumps to live footage.
M: Zoom in or out of the center of the video.
N: Mute/unmute video. This will only apply to cameras with audio functionality.
O: Add additional cameras to be viewed simultaneously in the History Browser.
P: Creates a split view of full video + preview footage in the history browser to be played simultaneously.
Q: Opens History Browser in a separate window.
R: Opens settings options for the camera.
S: Your current timestamp within the History Browser.
Downloading and Archiving Video

Downloads will expire after 2 weeks. Archived footage does not expire. If the footage you are downloading is about to leave your retention window... Archive it! The size of your archived storage depends on your account edition. Archiving allows you to save video clips and snapshots outside of the normal cloud retention period. This means you can preserve important footage, such as evidence of an incident or crime, for longer durations. Even after it would normally be deleted from standard cloud storage.
