Description

Returning an Eagle Eye Anywhere Cabinet system to Eagle Eye Networks requires removal of certain components as per shipping regulations. This document will instruct you how to safely disassemble the product and dispose of hazardous materials properly.

WarningThe battery must be removed before return shipment.

Step-by-Step

1. Disconnect the Solar Panel(s) from the cabinet system. Eagle Eye Networks does not require the panel back for replacement. Dispose of it according to the same EPA guidelines used for the battery.


The solar panel cables will extend from the bottom of the cabinet. Carefully disconnect the MC4 Panel Cable Connectors using the MC4 Connector tools (provided in a plastic pouch inside the cabinet) from the solar panel(s).

2. Remove or cross out the following labels if using the same box for return shipment.


WarningIf either of these labels are visible, the shipment will be denied.

3. Disconnect and remove the battery from the cabinet.

Depending on the configuration, the battery removal process varies. Follow the guidelines based on your system’s design and its corresponding Configuration.



Configuration A

First disconnect the battery from the controller by unclasping the orange connectors from one another. This configuration requires a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws for the bracket on the right-side. Once removed, angle the battery up and slide out at an angle.



Configuration B

First disconnect the battery from the controller by gently pulling apart the barrel connectors (black and red wires). Undo the strap securing the battery in place. Angle the battery up and slide out at an angle.

Follow these guidelines from the US Environmental Protection Agency to ensure safe handling and disposal of the battery.

EPA recommendation: Find a location to recycle Li-ion batteries and products that contain Li-ion batteries using one of the suggested links; do not put them in the trash or municipal recycling bins.

Li-ion batteries in electronics: Send electronic devices containing Li-ion batteries to certified electronics recyclers, participating retailers and recyclers in electronics takeback services or contact your local solid waste or household hazardous waste collection program for more options.

Find a recycling location near you to properly dispose of Li-ion batteries. Send individual batteries to specialized battery recyclers or retailers that are participating in take back services or contact your local solid waste or household hazardous waste program for more options. 

Two resources for finding a recycler are the Earth 911 database and Call2Recycle.

Handling precautions: Place the battery in a plastic bag. Place non-conductive tape (e.g., electrical tape) over the battery’s terminals. If the battery becomes damaged, contact the battery or device manufacturer for specific handling information. Even a used battery can have enough energy to injure or start fires. Cover the terminations where the battery was connected within the cabinet. It’s recommended to use electrical tape, however any non-conductive material would be appropriate.
